(ANSA) – ROME, 02 JAN – Tobias Weller is 11 years old. He is from Sheffield, Yorkshire, and has autism and cerebral palsy. But from now on he will be especially mentioned for being the youngest to receive an honor from Queen Elizabeth II and by far the youngest to be awarded the royal award.
In fact, he will receive the British Empire Medal (Bem) for distinguishing himself in his commitment to fundraising for charity. Tobias – who is nicknamed ‘the Captain’ because he draws inspiration from Captain Tom Moore, hero of the health fundraiser during the lockdown and then fell victim to covid last February at the age of 100 – completed his latest challenge last September, a so-called Ironman circuit, raising £ 157,000 for his school in Sheffield and for the city’s children’s hospital.
