Sudan: police armored Khartoum in view of new protests

(ANSA) – KHARTOUM, 02 JAN – Sudanese security forces blocked the bridges connecting Khartoum to the suburbs this morning and are lined up en masse in the capital in view of a new demonstration “in memory of the martyrs” after Thursday’s bloody repression last.
At least 53 people were killed and hundreds injured by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane’s coup on 25 October and on Thursday the country was hit by another wave of violence with five demonstrators shot dead in Khartoum .
Activists continue to demand justice for the dozens of protesters killed in the coup, but also for the more than 250 civilians killed in the “revolution” that ended Omar al-Bashir’s 30 years of Islamist military dictatorship in 2019. According to an appeal launched on social networks, 2022 must be “the year of the continuation of the resistance”. (HANDLE).
