Clashes between protesters and security officials in various cities of Kazakhstan ended in gunfire. There are already dozens of victims at the mayor’s office of Almaty alone.

KazTAG reports. The fire is being fired from both sides, judging by videos from social networks.

One of the very first to appear was a video from a bird’s-eye view, where there is a clear video of how the Kazakh military is pulling off a wounded colleague.

As noted in Ateo Breaking, the security officer was wounded as a result of the shooting of demonstrators who took away his weapon. The scuffle took place during an attempt to seize a local administrative building in Almaty. The demonstrators still managed to break through.

In addition, the local administration was also stormed in the city of Aktobe in western Kazakhstan. The protesters managed to break through the chain of security forces. But as a result, law enforcement officers managed to drive out the demonstrators. The video shows that the special forces used special equipment and opened fire on the protesters. Earlier it was reported that the security forces have been using rubber bullets since yesterday.

In one of the videos, which was distributed by the Telegram channel Ateo Breaking, you can see how some of the military surrendered to the protesters. Some of them are injured.

Earlier, we reported on the work of an ambulance during the brawls in Almaty. Some carriages were unable to get to the wounded security forces because protesters blocked traffic. The network also posted a video in which an ambulance is pelted with stones.

Protests in Kazakhstan

  • Protests in Kazakhstan erupted on January 2 in Zhanaozen, Mangistau Oblast, but protesters’ slogans were picked up in other cities, including Almaty and Nur-Sultan. The reason for the people’s dissatisfaction was the government’s decision to increase gas tariffs by 50%.
  • In many cities, protesters clashed with security forces, in connection with which a state of emergency and a curfew were declared, as well as the Internet was slowed down.
  • The Kazakh authorities initially insisted that there were “good reasons” for the rise in gas prices related to “market conditions”, but eventually made concessions. Kazakh President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev dismissed the country’s government, but the protests did not stop.
