(ANSA) – NEW DELHI, 18 JAN – The whole of India today mourned the death of the legendary dancer Birju Maharaj, who made traditional Kathak dance appreciated all over the world. Birju, who died at 83 of a heart attack while exercising with his son at their home in Delhi, was known in the country by the nickname of Maharaj. Throughout his career, the Maestro had been awarded the highest awards expected in India for artists, for his contribution to the history of Indian classical dance.
His performances were characterized by his ability to express himself through kathak, the most graceful form of traditional dance, with feet and ankles that produced an inimitable concert thanks to the anklets. Bollywood. (HANDLE).
