Brazil has recorded 74,134 new infections and 121 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the toll since the beginning of the pandemic to 23,074,791 and 621,166 respectively, according to the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).
Although Monday is the day with fewer notifications due to the weekend, yesterday’s numbers continue to show the accelerating pace of infections across the country. The moving average for the past seven days has been 73,728 infections per day. The number of deaths has risen to an average of 154, at a steady pace, but lower than in the past.
According to Conass, the first two weeks of the year brought the country back to the levels of June 2021 in terms of infections.
On the vaccination front, according to data from the Consortium of Information Vehicles 147,308,222 people have so far received two doses, which represents 68.57% of the population.
The reinforcement dose was instead administered to 35,685,983 people, which corresponds to 16.61% of the population. The total number of people who have received at least one dose is finally equal to 162,210,686, which represents 75.51% of the population of about 215 million inhabitants.
