The agency will replace the old Easo by expanding its powers.
Thanks to the mandate revision, ratified following the agreement between the European Parliament and the EU Council on the proposal of the European Commission, EUAA will have a budget of 172 million euros for 2022, allocated to cover the costs of the first 8 operations in support of the authorities of Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta and Spain. The staff employed by the agency will be increased to 2,000 employees, of which 500 will be located in the Malta office, and in the offices in Athens, Brussels, Rome, Nicosia, Madrid and Warsaw, ready to intervene at the request of the member states.
