Norwegian prosecutor opposed to parole in Breivik

(ANSA) – ROME, JAN 20 – The Norwegian prosecutor has asked that the request for parole made by the right-wing extremist Anders Breivik be rejected ten years after the massacre in which he killed 77 people between Oslo and Utoya.

The Norwegian prosecutor has insisted that Breivik, 42, is as dangerous now as he was when he carried out the carnage. The extremist, for his part, said he distanced himself from the violence and wanted to be released after serving the minimum 10-year sentence of 21 years, which can also be extended as long as it is considered a threat to society.

“The Breivik who asks us to trust him is the same Breivik who destroyed the government offices, and it is the same criminal who shot the young people,” prosecutor Hulda Karlsdottir told the district court.

The hearing was held for security reasons in the Skien prison gymnasium where Breivik is incarcerated.

On July 22, 2011, the right-wing extremist detonated a truck bomb near the Oslo government offices, killing eight people, before heading to the island of Utoya where, disguised as a police officer, he killed 69 others. , mostly teenagers attending the Labor Party youth wing summer camp. Breivik motivated his gesture by claiming that he killed his victims because they embraced multiculturalism.

Randi Rosenqvist, the psychiatrist who observed him in detention said he continues to be as dangerous today as he was ten years ago. (HANDLE).
