Covid: new record of infections in the Netherlands, 112,000 in one day

(ANSA) – BRUSSELS, JAN 31 – 112,000 new coronavirus infections have been registered in the Netherlands today. This is the highest number since the start of the pandemic, well over the record of 75,000 cases recorded yesterday. The surge in new cases has put the information systems of the Dutch institute for public health Rivm in difficulty, with numerous tests still to be uploaded.

The cities of Rotterdam (6,595), Amsterdam (5,771) and The Hague (5,689) reported the highest number of positive cases today: for each one it is the record of infections in a single day since the beginning of Covid.

Over the past week, Dutch hospitals admitted an average of 157 Covid-19 patients per day, marking a 27% increase over the previous week. This average is the highest of new hospitalizations since January 4. (HANDLE).
