(ANSA) – NAIROBI, 31 JAN – Five people were killed today when a minibus in northeastern Kenya was destroyed by a roadside bomb during an ambush by armed men near the border with Somalia. The police said this, stating that the attackers then opened fire on the 14-seater vehicle about eight kilometers from the city of Mandera, on the border between Kenya and Somalia.
“A unit that was patrolling the area on foot intervened and the attackers fled towards the border with Somalia,” a police report said.
The attackers used pistols and rocket grenades during the assault, the report said. Several passengers survived the attack “with varying degrees of injury”. (HANDLE).
