(ANSA) – TEL AVIV, 02 FEB – Dani Dayan, director of Yad Vashem, invited Whoopi Goldberg to the Museum in Jerusalem “to learn more about the causes, events and consequences of the Holocaust”. The popular American actress and host of ‘The View’ was suspended for two weeks by ABC News after criticism sparked by her claim that the Holocaust is “not about race”.
Dayan called Goldberg’s theses “a fundamental misunderstanding about the nature of the Holocaust and anti-Semitism.”
“We must not mince words: the people – Dayan added – need to know what led to the Holocaust, the unprecedented murderous drive to annihilate the entire Jewish people, their religion, culture and values by the Nazis and of their collaborators, mainly because of the unfounded belief that Jews were their main and extremely dangerous racial enemy. “
For this Dayan, while appreciating “the actress’s apologies and clarifications”, asked her to come to Yad Vashem. (HANDLE).
