(ANSA) – ROME, FEBRUARY 06 – Several jihadists among the hundreds escaped after the attack last month by Isis on the Ghwayran prison, in north-eastern Syria, have fled to Turkey. This was stated by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, citing sources on the ground, according to which other refugees would instead have taken refuge in areas of northern Syria to the east and north-east of Aleppo, controlled by local pro-Turkish militias from the military operation of Ankara ‘Shield of the Euphrates’.
Furthermore, two so-called Isis emirs would have fled to the Jarablus area, always under the de facto control of Turkey.
Still other jihadists, the NGO adds, would hide in the rural areas of Hasakah, Raqqa, Deir Ezzor and Manbij, controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). (HANDLE).
