Nuclear: Iran, West to decide on sanctions removal

“The West should make a serious and effective decision regarding the removal of sanctions and prove that it has truly moved away from the failed policies of the previous US administration.” This was stated by the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, according to reports from the Irna agency, in a phone call with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi talking about the economic sanctions imposed by the US on Tehran after the decision of former President Donald Trump to withdraw Washington from the nuclear deal (JCPOA) reached in Vienna in 2015.
During the conversation, the Iranian minister expressed appreciation for Beijing’s attitude in favor of the removal of US sanctions against Tehran in the negotiations underway in the Austrian capital to revive the nuclear pact in which Russia, China and France participate in addition to Iran. , Great Britain and Germany.
A new session of talks is scheduled for today in Vienna which, after a pause of about five months, resumed on 29 November last. After more than two months, an agreement has not yet been found and there have been no direct contacts between Washington and Tehran but only an exchange of written messages through the mediation of the EU.
