Mobility: Tier Mobility buys Spin, enters North America

(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 03 – Tier Mobility, the leading provider of micromobility in sharing in Europe, has announced the acquisition of Spin, the operator of Ford-owned shared bicycles and electric scooters, marking the entry of Tier in North America. This was announced in a press release noting that with this acquisition Tier expands its global presence in more than 520 cities in 21 countries and expands its fleet of 300,000 vehicles (scooters and electric scooters and e-bikes), thus becoming the largest operator of international multimodal micro-mobility.

After the recent acquisitions of the Italian market leader Wind Mobility and of the main European bike sharing operator Nextbike, Tier was already operating in over 410 cities with a fleet of 250,000 vehicles, which now with the 50,000 of Spins now rise to 300,000.

“Investing and modernizing Spin’s fleet with 100% replaceable batteries is part of the objectives to achieve environmental sustainability in the micro-mobility sector,” the note reads.

“The leading brand, team and partnership-based approach with Spin will continue in North America as an independent entity, with the UK business moving to Tier at a later date,” the note continues.

Spin “has established solid partnerships with cities in North America” ​​also on the basis of “cutting-edge approaches to building charging infrastructure”.
