Final tests on ice for the new Volkswagen Touareg

The latest road tests take the future new Volkswagen Touareg up to the Arctic Circle. In fact, this year the German company will unveil one of its most successful models with a renewed look at the rear and front of the SUV, as well as a further developed chassis.

The new disguised Touareg is still completing its last test kilometers in Swedish Lapland and the released images of the disguised prototype already provide a preview of the first technical details. At the front you can see the newly developed Iq.Light matrix HD headlights and elements of a new integrated Led light strip.
These novelties translate into a large number of extremely bright points of light, generated by a total of 38,400 micro LEDs which guarantee much more brightness on the road, without dazzling oncoming traffic. 19,200 micro LEDs are distributed on each vehicle headlight. The matrix system projects an interactive carpet of light onto the road traveled by the SUV.
The new Touareg is also the first Volkswagen model to have an illuminated logo on the rear. Since January 2023, the red illuminated Volkswagen badge has also been legal in Europe.
Previously this was only allowed in markets such as China or the USA.
Volkswagen has also further developed the chassis of the Touareg with permanent all-wheel drive. Among other things, a roof load sensor is now used, which is networked with the chassis electronics. The advantage is greater agility when the roof is not loaded. If, on the other hand, a roof box is installed, the sensor recognizes this and transmits this information to assistance systems such as the ESC. This increases the driving stability of the Touareg in all conditions. The standard steel-sprung chassis and the optional two-chamber air-sprung chassis have also been reconfigured to achieve an even greater spread between maximum comfort and optimum performance.
Inside, the new generation Touareg will be equipped with the Innovision Cockpit, a central touchscreen, the multifunction steering wheel and analogue elements such as the volume control in the center console. The Innovision Cockpit of the new Touareg offers, among other things, precise lane navigation and high-resolution map data.
