Interporto Prato, 75 bookable and safe truck places

The Interport of Central Tuscany, in Prato, increasingly strategic in national and European terms thanks to two loans received from the Prato logistics hub for a total of 3.2 million euros: 1.7 million allocated by the Ministry of Infrastructure, 1 .5 million from Europe. The funds will be used to equip the Freight Village with 75 ‘certified’ car parks for trucks, equipped with maximum security thanks to barriers and a video surveillance system, driver support services (showers, refreshment point and wi-fi) and a booking system which allows you to secure parking in real time starting from any area of ​​Europe.

The European funding is part of the safe parking project for trucks on the Italian road network and on the corridors between the Baltic and the Adriatic, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean, and the Mediterranean and the Rhine-Alpine. The tender for the first parking lot was published in recent weeks and the award of the works is imminent. The construction sites will last 10 months.

“A lorry driver who, for example, leaves from northern Europe to transport goods to Italy right from the start will be able to easily book his truck space – explains the president of Interporto Toscana Centrale, Francesco Querci -. Upon arrival, he will be able to park without difficulty, leave the vehicle is guarded and take advantage of agreements in the area. These loans demonstrate how our logistics center is following the guidelines of both the European Commission and the Ministry to the letter. And now the goal is to obtain funding from the ministry for the digitization of our areas , also thanks to the fundamental collaboration with Uir”.
