“Between 2015 and 2021, sales of e-bikes in the EU grew by 271%. The share of e-bikes on the total sold reached 22%. Overall, the bicycle market, in 2021, recorded a worth about 20 billion euros”. Thus the representatives of Ancma, the National Association of cycles, motorcycles and accessories, in a hearing at the Production Activities commission of the Chamber. Production is also growing in Europe, which marks a +22%, driven by electric bicycles (+356%). “The share of e-bikes in the total product has reached almost 30%. In 2021, 16 million pieces were produced, of which 4.5 million were e-bikes”, explained the association. Italy is the first European country for production with 3.5 million pieces in 2021, equal to 20% of European production, while it is the second country for components produced, with a turnover of 0.57 billion in 202, equal to 16% of the European total.
