Symone, an innovative car transporter bus for transporting cars and people

The starting idea is that of block trains for the transport of goods: to remove semi-trailers from the roads and make them travel on a single convoy pulled by a single engine. In this case, however, what has been eliminated from the motorways are the normal cars that travel – four or five at a time – on board a strange vehicle that arises from the union of a luxury touring bus and the load capacity of a car transporter.
An unusual and certainly original proposal, which comes from the startup Symone, based in Dijon, and which has gained experience in the collective transport of vehicles with a – successful – service that allows motorcyclists to add the area by train or plane of a true biker’s holiday while the two-wheeler is delivered where it is needed after traveling on special motorcycle trailers.
Founded in 2020, start-up Symone now aims to revolutionize highway car travel. The starting point is simple: more than 100,000 vehicles, including motorcycles, make long journeys on French autoroutes every day. In addition to the problem of pollution, the boss and co-founder of Symone, Romain Coispine, thinks that using the car on the motorway – with traffic and stringent speed limits – is a waste of time. The solution may be a large articulated coach that houses the cars on its roof, while owners and passengers enjoy the ride in business class seats inside the vehicle to reach their destination in comfort.
“Our goal is to have a demonstrator vehicle for 2024, and to show it at the Paris Olympic Games – said Coispine – which will be a great showcase for innovations like ours” October, Symone has just completed its first fundraising with 240,000 euros from private investors, which should be enough for the prototyping phase.
The car transporter buses will be powered by green hydrogen and according to Romain Coispine, the fact that it is a shared mode of transport will also save other CO2.
