The electric Mini Countryman will be the first model of the English brand made in Germany. Indeed, in 2023, production of the new crossover will begin at the BMW Group plant in Leipzig.
The new Countryman will be offered with both 100% electric and combustion engine drive. The new locally emission-free generation aligns perfectly with the BMW Group’s production site in Leipzig, one of the most modern and sustainable car factories in the world. “We are delighted to be able to deliver the first CO2-free MINI Made in Germany to our customers thanks to the plant’s sustainable energy supply.” said Stefanie Wurst, Head of MINI.
“In this way, the new all-electric MINI Countryman demonstrates what the brand stands for: electrified go-kart feeling and strong focus on a minimal environmental footprint.” The new MINI Countryman will roll off the production lines in Leipzig together with the BMW 1 Series, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé and the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. This makes Leipzig the first plant where vehicles of the BMW and MINI brands are produced together.
