The BMW Group confirms its commitment to the transition to electromobility, but without forgetting its commitment to customers, as demonstrated by a chart shown during the 2022 annual results conference in Munich which ‘unveils’ future model programs 100% electric and with electrified Ice engine.

The prediction is that – depending on market conditions in the second half of the decade, price trends and the availability of raw materials, as well as the pace at which a complete charging infrastructure will be built – well before 2030 it will be reached a share of BEV exceeding 50% of the Group’s total sales.

And without penalizing the financial results or excessively increasing the price lists. “BMW is demonstrating that it can do both – said Nicolas Peter, member of the board of BMW AG with responsibility for finances – that is, to manage the company’s biggest transformation, while maintaining its profitability”. “Our portfolio, especially our impressive range of electrified vehicles and luxury models, makes it possible. We generate the innovation funds from current cash flow.

And as in the past, our approach remains focused on the company’s profitable and sustainable future”. As for the sales of fully electric models, BMW notes that not only customers already acquired in the Group are switching to BEVs, but also customers of other brands, by conquest, are opting for the Group’s 100% battery-powered cars, which which will allow the company to gain market share in the future. “The substance is convincing – said Oliver Zipse, chairman of the board of directors of BMW AG – and it is here that our models speak for themselves. That’s why we expect them to account for 15% of our total sales in 2023.”

Growth was very strong in China, where BEV sales more than tripled through the end of February. “From the spring of 2024 – Zipse revealed, showing the car hidden by a cloth – the 5 Series will also come in a fully electric version, offering us a truly unique strength in this segment. And it will also be there as a BMW M Performance model.”

The arrival of the i5 Sedan in the premium executive segment will be followed by that of the i5 Touring and will allow BMW to continue the systematic expansion of its all-electric offering.
