In the United Kingdom, a new App has been presented which transforms smartphones into dash cams (surveillance cameras with a large frontal vision that some high-end models are equipped with) and allows you to send evidence of any improprieties by other users directly to the police. According to a report by The Sun newspaper, the footage is recorded for 30 seconds and then – in the absence of events – overlaid into the same storage space to ensure that the phone’s memory quickly becomes full.
The App, which is free, can recognize and initiate video footage of up to 21 different driving offences, which are uploaded directly to an official video portal operated by UK Police.
Naturally, the decision to report (which in Great Britain is considered on a par with an in-person complaint) rests with the motorist who has installed this App and who has a button at his disposal for this purpose which appears on the screen of his smartphone.
