The 6 Hours of Portimão, staged yesterday, saw Toyota take the second consecutive success in the WEC, after the inaugural race at Sebring. The Japanese Hypercar triumphed, on this occasion, with the GR010 Hybrid number 8, while number 7 was forced to return to the pits due to a problem with the torque sensor, which forced the team to intervene on the car, so in the end it went beyond ninth position. Second was the Ferrari 499P, which improves on the third place at Sebring, again with number 50. Still problems for number 51, precisely with the braking system, so the second car from Maranello didn’t go beyond sixth position. “We are satisfied with second place, but at the same time it is a pity that we had some problems with car number 51 – said Ferdinando Cannizzo, head of gt and sports race cars – which is a positive result, but we have lost those positions allowed both crews to get on the podium”. On the podium also the Porsche 963 LMDh number 6, which preceded the Cadillac marked by the number 2.
Fifth place for the Peugeot 9X8 number 94, which has made some steps forward. In the LMP2 class, after an intense race, the first two positions went to the Orecas number 23 and 22 of United Autosports, who preceded the WRT team car number 41 under the checkered flag. Great fight between the cars of the LMGTE AM class , with the Corvette driven by Catsburg which, in the last stint, got the better of the Ferrari of the Richard Mille AF Corse team driven by Alessio Rovera, in a duel that ended in the last corner of the last lap. The Porsche of the Iron Dams team completes the category podium.
