Inspired by “Through the Looking-glass”, a visionary novel by Lewis Carroll and sequel to “Alice in Wonderland”, the Alcantara installation at Design Week attracted the curiosity of car enthusiasts and beyond. On display at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, “Through Alcantara. The Beauty of Innovation”, will remain open for the entire Fuorisalone period.
In the three-dimensional installation made up of drapes of material unrolled and hung at various heights, visitors can experience an immersive experience in the Alcantara universe, “where the material – underlined by the company – takes possession of the space and can be touched, overcome and crossed, with the surprise of prints and lasered workmanship”.
The idea of the project is to let visitors enter the world of Alcantara to discover its aspects of uniqueness, innovation and sustainability. A theme, the latter, dear to the Italian reality which already in 2009 obtained the Carbon Neutrality certification issued by Tüv Süd and which has recently introduced on the market a special version of coating, composed of 68% recycled polyester, produced in Europe , certified and deriving from the recycling of post-consumer waste.
“We are partners of all forms of art and design and in the hands of creatives it becomes a medium, a powerful tool for experimenting, capable of evoking the imagination beyond the patterns of ‘dejà vu’ – points out Andrea Boragno, president and CEO of Alcantara , present at the Milanese vernissage – For us, the community of designers and artists is fundamental – he concluded – to explore and go beyond the creative limits of a material that has no limits and that speaks the infinite languages of style”.
