Almost 46,000 liters of smuggled diesel were seized by the financiers of the Naples economic and financial police unit in Sant’Anastasia, in the province of Naples, where two people were also reported. At the same time, the yellow flames seized almost 11,000 liters of petrol together with a commercial deposit and a tanker. It all started with a suspicious articulated lorry headed for a depot of a company that sells wholesale petroleum products. When the diesel unloading began, the financiers carried out checks which revealed that there were no documents proving the legitimate origin of the diesel. The driver of the vehicle and the legal representative of the deposit were reported to the Nola Public Prosecutor’s Office not only for the crimes of subtraction from the assessment and payment of the excise duty, but also for irregularities in the circulation of energy products and for violation of the legislation on prevention of fires: the depot, in fact, did not have the authorizations of the fire brigade.
