Three weeks after the launch of the ID.7, the model which is defined in a company advertising slogan as an ‘electric mobility solution that will take you far’ and which is credited with a range of over 700 km, Volkswagen now announces that it is ready to drop a new ace, namely the ID.7 Gtx which adds to this concept that of dynamism in performance.
The third model after the ID.4 and ID 5 to offer a Gtx version, the future ID.7 Gtx will therefore be the third model to offer electric mobility and intelligent sportiness together, all with a high autonomy that will make it even more interesting to make big trips with zero impact. Together with some teaser images, Volkswagen itself speaks of the ID.7 Gtx as ‘a limousine for long distances with more power and all-wheel drive’ which will follow at the end of the summer, with a presentation event scheduled for 5 September at the IAA Mobility of Munich.
As in the previous ID.4 and ID.5 derived Gtx models, the ‘performing’ ID.7 will feature a dynamic management system which will be entrusted with intelligent control of the four-wheel drive system (obtained with double motor) and which allows achieve the optimal combination of efficiency, dynamics and driving stability.
Developed in-house by Volkswagen, this software controls not only the powertrain, but also all braking, steering and chassis control systems, depending on the selected driving profile. ID.7 Gtx will offer a substantially improved chassis and steering system compared to the basic MEB (modular electric drive) platform.
The flagship model of the ID electric model family, the future ID.7 Gtx will be characterized externally by glossy black elements which – together with the standard black paintwork of the roof and the tinted windows – will make the appearance of this model powerful and distinctive.
Volkswagen’s advances do not mention the technical characteristics of the ID.7 Gtx, but according to some media in the EV sector they should be similar to those of the recent Cupra Tavascan coupe suv, equipped with a 77 kWh battery and credited with a total power of the two engines equal to 340 HP.
