China will invest three billion euros in the automotive sector in Hungary over the next few years.
This was announced by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, after talks with the Chinese Trade Minister Wang Wentao, in Beijing, as reported by the Hungarian government through the About Hungary portal. Szijjártó said the projects will further strengthen Hungary’s position as a top destination for foreign investment in Central Europe. Szijjártó met with CEOs of five major Chinese companies, four of which will invest in Hungary’s electric car sector, which supplies German automakers. According to Szijjártó, Beijing companies consider Hungary one of the ideal destinations for their investments in Central Europe. The EU country recorded the largest volume of Chinese investment in the region at the end of 2022.
