As part of the checks aimed at contrasting the phenomena of unauthorized use and other unlawful behavior related to the taxi and chauffeur-driven service, the Carabinieri of the Fiumicino Airport station fined 7 Italian citizens caught in the Leonardo da Vinci’s “Terminal 3 – Arrivals” while procuring customers to take to Rome. The investigations also revealed that three of them did not have authorization to carry out the professional service, therefore the soldiers of the Arma also notified them of the removal order for 48 hours to which was added a further fine of 100 euros each . Then alerted by the personnel in charge of the surveillance of a duty free shop located in Terminal 3 – Departures, the carabinieri also reported two travellers, a 28-year-old Cameroonian and a 35-year-old Moldovan, who, while waiting for their respective flights, had attempted to pass the checkouts without paying for various products, worth around 600 euros, hiding them inside their hand luggage.
