New arrivals for Toyota’s Yaris Hybrid, which aims to remain at the top of the category in the competitive B-segment.
In dealerships by the first quarter of 2024, the car will be able to count on greater power from the Full Hybrid-Electric powertrain.
The power unit in question uses a larger and more powerful electric motor-generator, as well as modifications to the software and components of the Power Control. Performance also improves with 0-100 km/h in 9.2 seconds and acceleration from 80 to 120 km/h in 7.5 seconds, with CO2 emissions remaining in the range between 96 and 116 g/km. Customers of the new Yaris Hybrid range will be able to choose between two Full Hybrid powertrains: the consolidated hybrid powertrain called “Hybrid 115” or the new “Hybrid 130” powertrain (associated with the Premiere Edition and GR SPORT trim levels) delivering 130 HP, and with maximum torque that increases by 30% over the entire engine operating range, going from 141 Nm to 185 Nm. Safer and more advanced active safety systems are not lacking; in fact, thanks to a new camera and a new radar capable of detecting even more distant objects, the Pre-Collision System (PCS) is able to distinguish between pedestrians, vehicles, cyclists and motorcyclists.
While Acceleration Suppression, making its debut in the Toyota Safety Sense package, intervenes to mitigate sudden accelerations in the event of a risk of collision with a vehicle in front.
The new Emergency Driving Stop System (EDSS), on the other hand, comes to the driver’s aid in the event of illness when Lane Trace Assist (LTA) is active: it detects if the driver has not performed any action for a certain period of time and, following a warning, if there is no reaction, it stops the car by activating the hazard lights and unlocking the doors.
In addition, Toyota will introduce for the Yaris Hybrid a customizable digital cockpit, a more powerful and intuitive multimedia system, with over-the-air software updates and, for the first time, a digital key to open and start the car via smartphone with the MyT app.
At launch, the new Yaris range will also be available with a special version, called the Premiere Edition, available in two-tone Platinum Pearl White, Silver Metallic, or with a new two-tone Neptune Blue livery with contrasting black roof and pillars, and will have 17-inch black alloy wheels with a new design are included in the equipment.
