How exams in a driving school will change: the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified

Soon Ukraine will reform the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. For citizens, this means, in particular, changes in the procedure for passing exams for a driver’s license. They want to make them more transparent and minimize the dangers of corruption.

What will change in the process of passing exams, the head of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Nikolai Rudyk, explained on the air of the Dom TV channel. According to him, all changes will be aimed at avoiding “blind spots” that allow cheating in exams and buying rights without them at all.

As Rudik explained, for this purpose the classrooms for the theoretical exam are equipped with video and audio monitoring cameras. This makes any form of hinting impossible. Everything will be clearly recorded. “If you know the theory, you can compose it. If you want to drive a vehicle, you must know the rules of the road,” said the representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Similar controls will be installed in cars where drivers practice driving. In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will refuse to use obsolete Soviet cars for this and switch to modern models. Each car will have four cameras that will monitor not only the one who makes the practice, but also the examiner. Dialogues between them will also be recorded.

As for the service centers where it will be possible to pass exams for a driver’s license, their number will be reduced. In total, 148 territorial service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will remain in Ukraine, but not all of them will be able to perform this function. Only 55 of them will test those who want to drive. “All other territorial service centers will provide services for the registration, re-registration of vehicles, the exchange of driver’s licenses,” Rudyk explained.

He also said that an experiment to introduce changes from June 1 started in four regions – Kyiv, Odessa, Vinnitsa and Lvov. “In these regions, we will gradually introduce our changes, study the difficulties and gradually scale these changes in other territorial service centers by the end of the year,” the official said.

As part of the experiment, citizens will be given the opportunity to pre-register for a practical exam. There will no longer be a need to personally appear at the center to sign up – you will only need to come to the exam itself.

Rudyk also named the cost of adding up to rights. According to him, both the theoretical and practical parts will cost 13 hryvnia each.

The official commented on the rumors that drivers will soon be allowed to prepare for the SDA exam on their own, without training in a driving school, as well as an unlimited number of attempts when passing practice. “There are such views, but they depend on changes in legislation. Draft laws are submitted and considered by the government. This is in the plan, but not for this year. Perhaps in 2024, after certain changes have been made, it will be possible to remotely or online train theoretical knowledge of the rules traffic,” he said.

The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that according to the current rules, if the applicant does not pass something, the opportunity to repeat the exam opens for him in 5 days. “You have an unlimited number of attempts to pass the theoretical exams during the year – the duration of your training. In the future, we will introduce an unlimited number of attempts to pass and a practical exam as well,” Rudyk promised.

Earlier, GLOBAL HAPPENINGS said that the procedure for passing a vehicle inspection will soon change in Ukraine.
