Stm and HPe start a collaboration on the electric car

Stm and HPE Group have started a research and development collaboration for the new generation electric car. This can be read in a note in which it is indicated that the two companies plan to jointly develop applications of power electronics, digital and artificial intelligence (AI). The laboratory activities will focus on creating a ‘proof-of-concept’ for electric powertrain systems with AI-based algorithms and control systems to support predictive maintenance of electric vehicles, power digital and traction control. Also planned is the search and mapping of “huge amounts of data on the parameters of advanced electric motors” and their processing using artificial intelligence algorithms. There are also projects related to the digital environment inside the vehicle.

“The combination of the know-how of Stm and HPE in the electrification of motor vehicles – commented the Automotive President of the microprocessor manufacturer Marco Monti – is crucial for achieving innovation through cutting-edge technologies such as the next generation of our Stellar-E microcontrollers , specifically designed for vehicle electrification, and our silicon and silicon carbide energy management solutions.” “We are extremely satisfied with the collaboration with Stm and with the joint laboratory that we are building – echoed the managing director of HPE Andrea Bozzoli – both for the type of activity we will carry out in this space, and for the new business prospects that will arise from this collaboration”. “Together with Stm – he added – we are experiencing a paradigm shift with respect to the traditional models of collaboration between OEMs and chip manufacturers”.
