Fs with e-bus in the Netherlands wins a 1.8 billion contract

275 electric buses will be used, 790 new employees and 195,000 passengers transported per kilometer each year: part of the local transport in the Netherlands will be green and will have the FS group’s Passenger pole behind it. The Dutch subsidiary Qbuzz has in fact won a concession worth 1.8 billion for LPT on road. Which will have the characteristic of being ‘green’ and will complement the activities already carried out in the country, which already see the Italian group managing a fleet of electric or hydrogen-powered public buses. Qbuzz in fact becomes the third Tpl operator in the Netherlands and this consolidates the presence of the Italian group in the free European market, with a further step forward towards the objective indicated in the Business Plan by CEO Luigi Ferraris which envisages a increase in revenues from 1.8 billion euros in 2019 to around 5 billion in 2031. The new service, which will use the fleet of 275 electric buses, will serve the Zuid-Holland-Noord area in the Randstad region which has eight million of inhabitants and is included between the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague. The offer is organized on 52 bus lines and 1041 stops. It will be operated with a fleet of 275 electric buses and will have 790 people joining the company. Investments of 193 million euros are planned for fleet renewal and technological innovation to improve comfort and environmental sustainability of connections between the main local cities and rural areas with the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague. Qbuzz – explains the note from the Fs – “already manages LPT services in the areas of Utrecht, Groningen-Drenthe and DMG (Drechtsteden-Molenlanden-Gorinchem) and is a leader in the management of low environmental impact bus fleets (in its fleet 310 buses with zero emissions, 32 of which powered by hydrogen and 278 electric), a best practice at European level combined with the experimentation of low environmental impact fuels such as HVO, the latter already being used with excellent results”. News for the FS group also comes from Italy. Mercitalia Shunting & Terminal, the Polo Logistica company, has acquired a business branch of Auta Marocchi, in its logistics branch in Terni, specialized in rail transport.
