Madrid, now a Euro 7 calendar that is viable for the car

Spain’s Minister for Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, believes that the debate on the European Euro 7 directive should focus on how to manage its application timetable in order to make it viable for the automotive industry. Speaking before the informal Council of Energy and Environment Ministers of the Twenty-seven, which is held from today to Wednesday in Valladolid, Ribera made it clear that this issue will not be discussed at the meeting, although he believes it is a dossier on which it is necessary reach an agreement “as soon as possible”.

In his opinion, the timetable for applying the future Euro 7, a regulation which concerns the progressive reduction of emissions from cars, trucks, buses and commercial vehicles with combustion engines, must be “valid” so that the industry can implement the necessary investments in its own transformation process.

For Ribera, the key is “how to manage this calendar” so that it respects “and does not undermine” the investment decisions taken by the automotive sector and which have been directed, for example, to the production of electric cars.
