Production of the automotive industry also grows in May

“The index of Italian automotive production remains positive also in May (+5.3%), recording the third consecutive rise after the slight drop in February. This was underlined by Gianmarco Giorda, director general of Anfia.

The motor vehicle manufacturing index grew by double digits in the month (+14.4%), above all thanks to the 8.7% increase registered, according to preliminary data from Anfia, by the production of motor vehicles which closes the first five months at +12.9%, exceeding 237 thousand units. The index for the production of parts and accessories for motor vehicles and their engines, on the other hand, returns to a negative sign, -3.8% compared to May 2022, reversing the trend.

“To support demand and direct it towards green technologies – explains Giorda – it is important to accelerate the announced remodulation of the incentives currently in force for the purchase of very low and zero-emission cars. Furthermore, since the persistence of supply problems and of goods logistics makes it difficult to comply with the deliveries of new vehicles within the 180 days envisaged by national legislation, we hope that the delivery terms will be extended to 270 days . recently the subject of a joint letter, signed together with the other major Italian automotive associations, to the Minister of Companies and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso. In this way, citizens who have invested to buy a new vehicle at the beginning of 2023 will not lose the benefit of the Ecobonus”.
