Rhino RR01, the first accessible supercar is born in Lithuania

The realization of the dream of many sports car enthusiasts capable of offering ‘breathtaking’ performance could be more ‘accessible’ thanks to the program launched in Lithuania by Rhino Racing, a start-up founded by four nautical enthusiasts (Vejas Pajarskas, Julius Garnelis, Simonas Baciulis and Matas Stankevicius) who identified a ‘void’ in the supercar market, that of entry-level models.
When designing and fine-tuning the RR01, the four partners carefully maintained – as is the responsibility of those who sail at sea – this route, creating the monocoque, the chassis, the bodywork, the interiors and the electronics from scratch with the aim of containing costs to the maximum. For this reason the theme of the engine was ‘overlooked’ in the Rhino, while everything else from the RR01 constitutes what is defined as a kit car, built with individual components that are as easily available as possible and, if exclusive, created in perfect balance between performance and costs.
The customer who orders the RR01 in the desired level will quickly receive the monocoque, chassis, bodywork and other mechanical and electrical parts, free to choose the preferred engine and transmission himself. The first prototype is already working and uses a V10 5.2 engine of Audi origin which was bought used and then overhauled). The RR01 is characterized by aggression, extreme speed and driving precision, but – admit the Rhino Racing partners – there is still work to be done before the final product.
“We still have to adjust the geometry of the wheels, because now it is racing – said Pajarskas – so it is not very pleasant in slower driving on the open road. We have left a lot of room for improvisation everywhere, we can rearrange the positions of the elements. The first sensations behind the wheel are fun, but we still have to work before we can consider the result truly appreciable.”
Classified as a kit car – a type that is highly appreciated in Great Britain and the United States – the RR01 in basic package (which includes monocoque, suspension, bodywork, brakes, cooling, fuel system, lights, interior, electronics, steering wheel, wheels and other components to have a supercar ready for use) costs 35 thousand euros excluding taxes.
