The new Porsche Macan is engaged in road testing

Ten years have passed since the launch of the Porsche Macan and the new generation, 100% electric, is engaged in pre-production tests in real conditions, which are carried out with camouflaged prototypes, without neglecting virtual simulations and the use of the wind tunnel . To date, camouflaged prototypes of the fully electric Macan have covered more than three and a half million test kilometers on test tracks and public roads. In the durability tests, driving is simulated in the most demanding operating conditions that customers may have to face in extreme situations: ranging from -30° C in Scandinavia to 50° C in Death Valley, California.

From the official photos of the prototypes you can see a certain family feeling, on a stylistic level, combined with aerodynamic attention, which has led the Teutonic SUV to have a Cd of 0.25: fundamental for offering high autonomy. Thanks to the presence of active aerodynamic elements such as the active cooling fins and the rear spoiler that comes out automatically. There is also a faired bottom like on racing cars. In the underbody of the new Macan there is a lithium ion battery with 800 Volt 100 kWh architecture, which accepts up to 270 kW of direct current charging power, to recover from 10 to 80% of energy in less than 22 minutes at 400 Volt charging stations. At engine level, we find the latest generation of permanently excited electric units on the front and rear axles, for an overboost power of more than 450 kW and a torque of up to 1000 Nm managed almost in real time by Porsche Traction Management .
