For the first time an electric propulsion prototype dominates and wins the Dakar with the Spanish crew formed by Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz, who faced 7,900 kilometers of sand, dunes, stones, fords and passages both trialistic and high speed, trailing the runners-up by 1 hour and 20 minutes.
A success that follows the many conquests of the company with the four rings gained over time, starting with quattro traction, which brought it to the fore in the world of rallies, up to electric, passing through the TDI engines, which made haul of victories in endurance racing. An approach, that of Audi, aimed at transferring the technology developed in the race onto series products, as demonstrated by other solutions such as LED headlights and headlights with laser technology.
