The 2024 Geneva Motor Show restarts with justified optimism

With 168 thousand visitors and after six days of opening to the public, the Geneva International Motor Show (Gims) closed its doors on Sunday evening 3 March, marking with a result that the organizers define as “satisfactory”, the return of one of the events most prestigious international companies in the automotive sector. Although with a limited number of car exhibitors compared to the past (19 manufacturers who brought 23 previews to the Palexpo’ in Geneva, 13 of which were world premieres including the important Renault 5 E-Tech Electric), the Show attracted with its new format , oriented towards interaction between exhibitors and the public, a high number of visitors so much so as to reach the peak of ‘sold-out’ on Friday and Saturday, with 40 thousand entries, the maximum capacity of the pavilions.

The key event at the opening of the day dedicated to the press was the award ceremony for the Car of the Year award which for 2024 was assigned to the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric. A total of 2 thousand journalists were present and generated – together with 60 global television channels – a significant media impact on an international level. Also noteworthy, the organizers say, is the social traffic linked to Gims and its topics with a balance of 4.32 million impressions, 2 million video views and 271,500 followers and registered people. Gims TV, the thematic channel that was launched during Gims Qatar 2023 with the daily program The Daily Show, totaled 230 thousand views. “I am convinced of the importance and necessity of the Geneva International Motor Show – said Alexandre de Senarclens, president of the Gims permanent committee foundation -. Given the great importance of the automobile in our society, now and in the future, the industry needs a common voice and platform for all manufacturers to interact with the public and end customers in the real world.” “In light of the encouraging turnout recorded in this 91st edition, both by visitors and media representatives, the Geneva International Motor Show can and must play this role.” The organizers have announced that the next edition will take place with the same format from 17 to 23 February 2025.
