Hyundai Kona Electric presents itself as a renewed proposal in the panorama of compact electric SUVs, with improvements in terms of design, performance and technology. Available in two battery variants, it offers solutions for different needs of autonomy and performance.
The compact dimensions remain which make it ideal for urban use, with a length of 4.36 meters, width of 1.83 meters and a step of 2.66 meters. The external design has been updated with more modern lines and an LED light signature, which gives the vehicle a dynamic appearance. The passenger compartment offers sufficient space for five occupants and a trunk with a variable capacity from 466 to 1,300 liters, depending on the configuration of the rear seats.
Two variants of engine and battery: the standard, with 100 kW (136 HP) engine and 48.6 kWh battery.
WLTP autonomy of about 380km indicates it for mostly urban routes. The 0-100 km/h acceleration is 9.9 seconds, the speed limited to 162 km/h.
The Long Range version, the subject of the Motor Ansa test in the N-Line set-up, has a 150 kW (204 HP) electric motor with 64.8 kWh battery. Autonomy is growing, which in the WLTP circuit is 510 km, which with a mixed guide become about 350 km. The 0-100 km/h acceleration stops the time trial at 7.6 seconds, the maximum speed is 167 km/h. Both versions offer a maximum torque of 395 nm.
The interiors of Kona Electric are characterized by a 12.3 -inch panoramic double screen, which includes digital dashboard and the infotainment system with navigator, Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The standard equipment also includes automatic air conditioning, seats covered in fabric and skin, front and rear parking sensors, and 17 “or 19” alloy wheels, depending on the version. In the security sector, the Kona Electric boasts the Hyundai Smart Sense package, which includes systems such as the maintenance of the lane, driving assistance on the highway, recognition of the speed limits and detection of the driver’s tiredness. There are also seven airbags and an internal camera to monitor the driver’s status.
The Hyundai Kona Electric behaves in a balanced way on the road, proving suitable for both city guide and extra -urban journeys, with particular attention to comfort and efficiency. The passenger compartment is well soundproofed, with excellent isolation with rolling and aerodynamic noises even at high speeds, while the suspensions manage well the irregularities of the asphalt, guaranteeing high quality of travel. The energy recovery system is adjustable on four levels, with the possibility of adopting the “One Pedal” guide, which allows you to slow down the car without having to use the brake often, while maintaining a fluid transition towards traditional braking, even if it can request a little adaptation. Different driving modes are available: echo to optimize consumption, comfort for balanced use and sport for a more immediate accelerator response and a more direct steering; There is also the ecological mode+, which limits the speed and deactivates the air conditioning to preserve autonomy to the maximum.
Kona Electric supports fast top -up in continuous current up to 100 kW, allowing you to switch from 10 to 80% charge in about 41 minutes. In alternating current, complete recharge takes over 6 hours.
The price list starts from about 38,300 euros for the Exclusive version with 48.6 kWh battery. The Long Range Nline version with 64.8 kWh battery is available starting from € 45,500.
