The performance of the future, for AMG also pass from the AMG GT XX concept. Not only a car idea that will take its final form in the coming years but a real pioneering technological program, designed for the Futura Sports of Serie A four -door Mercedes AMG.
The declared objective of the vehicle revealed in the past few hours in Sbacchterbach with an event that for one day has transformed the AMG factory into a ‘village’ of speed, combining exceptional technology with supreme resistance, hyper-bright recharge and a highly emotional design. With three axial flow engines and a high -performance battery developed from scratch, AMG has presented a concept of propulsion that allows a completely new size of performance and includes technical solutions intended for use in subsequent series models based on AMG high -performance electric architecture.
“The AMG GT XX concept – commented Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes -AMG GmbH – represents the next milestone in the history of AMG and creates a completely new size of performance. This car is a true AMG in every fiber of its essence. The heart of an AMG has always been the engine, and so it will also be with our internal electric architecture.
With our axial high -tech high -tech engine, we are offering a new revolutionary propulsion, without equal in terms of power density, weight and dimensions “.
Thanks to a peak power greater than 1,000 kW, the AMG GT XX concept can reach maximum speed of over 360 km/h. In combination with the new high -performance battery, the three axial flow engines reach a completely new level, in particular as regards the continuous power. This allows the concept a new level of continuous performance, almost unthinkable in the world of electrical mobility so far.
The battery remains in an optimal temperature interval even while intense driving, allowing not only road performance but also an extremely fast charging. The vehicle can recharge energy for about 400 kilometers of autonomy (WLTP) in about five minutes. After the stop for charging, the vehicle can immediately provide maximum power.
The power density of axial flow engines is about three times higher than that of conventional electric engines.
At the same time, innovative engines weigh about two thirds less and occupy only one third of the space. This compact engine design offers greater freedom in the design of the engine group.
The axial flow engines are produced in the Mercedes-Benz plant in the Marienfelde area in Berlin. This plant has been part of the global production network of the Mercedes-Benz engine groups for decades and deals with the production of various transmission components. The production of engines involves about 100 production processes. About 65 of these processes are new for Mercedes-Benz and 35 of them are absolute news worldwide.
The high voltage battery benefits from all the experience derived from AMG One and Formula 1, as well as the knowledge of the best engineers of Mercedes AMG in Affalterbach and Mercedes AMG High Performance PowerTrains in Brixworth (United Kingdom).
On the design front, its profile is the dynamic one of a fastback, with the lowered hood and the inclined windshield, in the name of sports performance. The livery in Sunset Beam Orange (orange sunset) then underlines its decisive character.
The AMG front grille with ten vertical strips represents a characteristic element of the brand, but is reinterpreted here with a more oval and concave form. The Mercedes star is integrated in the center. The thin rectangular auxiliary headlights are collected on the external margins of the grid. The main lighthouses arranged vertically instead introduce an innovative accent, with umballing and dazzling stacked one above the other.
