For the moment Subaru continues to disappoint the expectations of fans, especially in the USA, which await the debut of a new generation of the iconic Wrx Sti, exiting the scene on that market in 2021.
But the inattention to requests – underline the North American media – is only partial because the Pleiadi House has decided to expand its range for the United States with the 271 HP Wrx TS 2025 sports car.
Without the conspicuous wing of the Sti, this last WRX is less angular and more ‘liveable’ as demonstrated by the levels of power and torque (370 Nm) decidedly less pushed.
This unprecedented model proposes, for the pleasure of ‘purists’, an old recipe, that is, the six -speed manual gearbox, the Recaro seats with sports design and high performance Brembo brakes with golden pliers.
There are also electronic control shock absorbers with sti calibration for better handling and driving precision, there are as standard the Bridgestone Potenza S007 245/35 R19 tires.
And above all there is a greater possibility of personalization of the ‘character’ of the WRX TS using the Sport, Normal and Comfort mode – to regulate the power steering settings and the accelerator response – and the effective Vehicle Dynamics Control.
As regards the prospects of a new WRX Sti, Subaru has recently stated that its future high -performance sports cars will have to satisfy the change in emissions standards.
“As part of this effort, Subaru Corporation is exploring the opportunities for a next generation WRX Sti, including electrification” – said a spokesman for the Pleiadi house – but in the time preceding this potential debut “there will be no Sti Wrx with internal combustion engine produced on the basis of the new WRX platform”.
