President Volodymyr Zelensky promised to give all vaccinated citizens over 60 a new smartphone and a preferential package for it.

However, Ukrainians took this innovation in different ways and began to joke on social networks. “Today” collected the best memes about “єGrandma” from Facebook.

Despite the fact that the final name for the project has not yet been chosen, most Ukrainians “liked” the option “єGrandma”.

“The best name for a new project, which fully characterizes both the authors of this idea and their supporters,” writes Evgeny Vilinsky.

However, they joke not only about the eccentric name, but also about the essence of this project in general.

One of the users thought that smartphones are planned to be purchased for about 8.5 million citizens.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Mikhail Fedorov, said that it will be possible to enroll in the queue for a free phone from April.

He did not provide information about the beginning of the issuance of phones and said that this would depend on the period of manufacture of the devices. Also, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development did not disclose information about where the funds for the project will come from and what kind of phones the Ukrainians will receive.
