(ANSA) – ANCONA, 22 FEB – The minutes of the agreement reached yesterday in Rome at the end of the meeting at the Ministry for Economic Development on the Caterpillar dispute were signed in the afternoon in the Region. The document was signed by the CEO of Caterpillar, Jean Mathieu Chatain, the trade union representatives of the workers and the representatives of the Marche Region. Present for the signing were the president of the regional council, Francesco Acquaroli, and the regional councilor for work, Stefano Aguzzi who said he was “very satisfied with the result obtained”. “A second phase is now opening – continued Aguzzi – and there is still a long way to go”.

President Acquaroli, sharing the need to find the best possible solution, reiterated the need for a joint commitment, since the future of many families and an entire territory is at stake. The agreement provides for the 15-day suspension of the dismissal procedure for the 189 employees of Caterpillar in Jesi. Within this term, Caterpillar and Imr-Industrialesud spa will have to define and close the terms of the agreement. In particular, IMR, the successor company, will have to undertake union meetings to define the methods of hiring and re-employing staff.

The Imr group, which supplies products and solutions for exteriors and interiors of cars and trucks, with factories in Italy, Germany, Poland and Spain, has also given its willingness to bring part of its production from Poland to the Marche region. The Marche Region, for its part, will make available resources regarding the issues of training and orientation of workers towards the new tasks they will be called upon to perform. The table at Mise should instead be reconvened by 10 March. (HANDLE).
