(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 10 – In January, industry producer prices increased by 9.7% on a monthly basis and by 32.9% on an annual basis. This was announced by Istat, underlining that “the sharp rises on the internal market in electricity and gas prices” are the factors that determine this “economic increase of exceptional magnitude”. While – underlines Istat, “the increase in prices on the foreign market is much more contained”.
The decisive annual acceleration in industry prices (+ 32.9%, from + 22.8% in December) is also mainly due to the energy component; net of this, the growth in prices is much more contained: (+ 1.8% on a monthly basis; + 10.6% on an annual basis (it was + 9.3% in December).
In the quarter November 2021-January 2022, compared to the previous three months, industry producer prices grew by 10.6%, with a much more sustained trend on the domestic market (+ 13.7%) than on the foreign market (+ 2.6%).
