Foreign trade: Istat, exports + 5.3% on a month in January

(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 25 – In January, Italian exports, according to updated data, grew by 5.3% on December while they rose by 22.6% on January 2021. Istat notes this, underlining that overall imports fall on a cyclical basis of 2% while they rise on a trend basis by 44.5%, a figure explained for a quarter by the higher purchases of crude oil and natural gas.

In the quarter November 2021-January 2022, compared to the previous one, imports recorded an increase of 11.1%, which involves both the EU area (+ 9.2%) and the non-EU area (+13.5 %).

To the EU27 countries, exports increase by 5.1% on a monthly basis and by 25.5% on an annual basis while imports fall by 4.4% on a monthly basis and increase by 29.0% on an annual basis. .

In January, energy imports into Italy recorded a decline of 5% over December and an increase of 158.8% over the year. Energy exports recorded a 5.4% decline over December and a 104% increase over the year. (HANDLE).
