Webuild: Progetto Italia is reality, more presence in Italy

(ANSA) – MILAN, 06 APR – The Progetto Italia, the plan launched by Webuild to create a major player in infrastructures with a prevalent presence in Italy, is now completed. The deed that marks the end of a long process that began in 2019 with the announcement of the CEO of the then Salini Impregilo, Pietro Salini, is the filing of the new articles of association with the register of companies. Precisely the completion of the Italy Project, with the consolidation in the domestic market, achieved also thanks to acquisitions such as that of Astaldi and Cossi, allowed to increase the presence in Italy. At the end of 2021, Italy represented 48% of the group’s total backlog (orders still to be fulfilled) and 32% of total turnover, with over 5 billion new orders acquired in 2021, at the levels of other major European competitors. This is the effect of Progetto Italia, which involves a supply chain of 8,000 supplier companies, ensuring continuity on strategic projects for the country, and creating in Italy an overall employment value between direct and third parties equal to 16,100 people in 2021. A a process that has undergone a further acceleration with the NRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which, together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility, has foreseen 24 billion euros of investments in major works.

The statute captures the size and scope of a group, also born from the entry into the shareholding structure of Cdp Equity and the main financial institutions in the country (Intesa Sanpaolo, Unicredit, Banco Bpm), which in 2019 signed investment agreements, for a an operation that saw Webuild reach revenues of 6.7 billion euros in 2021 and 11.3 billion new orders on a total order book of 45.4 billion.
