Prices: with price war in flight, seed oil + 44%

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 30 – The conflict in Ukraine has made its effects directly felt on retail prices in Italy, affecting some consumer goods such as pasta, bread and seed oil. This was reported by Assoutenti, which on the basis of the latest data provided by the Mise has today drawn up the ranking of the cities where the retail price lists of these 3 products have undergone heavier increases.

The black top of the price increases undoubtedly belongs to sunflower oil, which in just two months, between January and March 2022, records price increases of over 40% in Verona and Lodi, between 20% and 25% in Mantua, Cremona, Sassari, Novara and Vercelli and between + 10% and 20% in 19 Italian provinces – explains Assoutenti – A wave of increases directly linked to the ongoing conflict: Ukraine and Russia together represent 80 % of world exports of sunflower oil, and the blocking of imports is affecting consumer prices through record increases across Italy. Furthermore, in just two months, double-digit increases were recorded for pasta + 13% and bread + 12%.
