The Ukrainian government is working to ensure that in the summer our country joins the roaming space and the common payment area of ​​the European Union.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmigal spoke about how this will help our citizens in the EU at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

What will change for Ukrainians

Ukraine plans to join the EU roaming space. And those Ukrainians who were forced to leave the country because of the war with the Russian Federation will be able to make calls between the EU and Ukraine at no extra cost.

In addition, it will allow Ukrainians to use mobile Internet at home, Ukrainian tariffs.

In addition to the roaming space, Ukraine is planning to join the single payment area in the European currency SEPA.

Everyone who has a bank account in a SEPA member country has a unique number – IBAN. It can be used for all kinds of transactions. The owner of such an account can make transfers without commission to any other account owner registered in the SEPA zone.

That is, Ukrainians, after joining the single zone, also will be able to make transfers in euros without commissions.

Shmihal added that European rules are currently being introduced in Ukraine in all sectors of the economy and spheres of public relations, because the main geopolitical goal is Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

Free roaming in the EU for Ukrainians

We previously reported that 24 EU mobile operators and 3 Ukrainian operators signed an application to provide free roaming to Ukrainians. The service applies to international calls to the EU-Ukraine.

He was introduced at the beginning of April for a period of 3 months.

Also, within countries, mobile operators separately provide their services to Ukrainians for free. For example, in Latvia, two companies LMT and Tele2 have extended the opportunity to call within Latvia and abroad for another 3 months without paying for it.
