Belgium introduces a new financial service for Ukrainians – what can be done

We tell you what conditions must be met to complete the operation

In Belgium, from June 1, it will be possible to exchange the Ukrainian hryvnia for the euro. This applies to Ukrainian refugees who have such a status on the territory of this country.

This was reported by the press service of the National Bank of Belgium, which signed an agreement with the NBU.

Ukrainians will be able to exchange cash at the cash desks of the National Bank and private financial institutions – Belfius, Beobank, BNP Paribas Fortis, CBC, ING, KBC and KBC Brussels.

Can be exchanged at one time up to 10 thousand UAH without fees and commissions.

“We consider it our humanitarian duty to offer this service to refugees, and therefore we are pleased that thanks to our efforts, this service can now be available in our country,” said Tim Hermans, director of the Belgian National Bank.

Conditions and restrictions

In addition to the limit on the amount, it will be requested confirmation of refugee statusno one with Belgian documents will be able to exchange hryvnia.

Exchange is possible at the cash desks of the National Bank on weekdays from 08:45 to 15:30.

Euro exchange in Germany

On May 24, Germany introduced a similar service, after our National Bank agreed with the Federal Ministry of Finance, the German Federal Bank and the banking industry of Germany.

The amount must also not exceed 10 thousand UAH at a timeand the exchange rate for the week will be set in Germany, every Friday after 14:00.

Banknotes accepted 100, 200, 500 and 1000 hryvnias of the current series of the National Bank of Ukraine, and commissions and other costs are fully covered by the federal budget.
