With its Future Trophies, Europe 1 rewards companies, associations or local authorities each year for their audacity, their innovation and their visionary side. In the running for the Environment Trophy, in partnership with Derichebourg, Bilum gives a second life to materials normally discarded.
This upcycling factory can transform discarded materials into fashion accessories and pieces of furniture with the help of French artisans. Thus, a National Gendarmerie jacket can become a bag and an Air France lifejacket can be reincarnated as a purse.
100% French
In 17 years of existence, Bilum has manufactured more than 30,000 pieces using more than 20 recovered materials “on a short, local and inclusive and 100% French circuit”, according to its founder Hélène de La Moureyre. The making of thousands of unique pieces has allowed Bilum to save more than 20,000 m2 of materials.
Develop upcycling
Today, their goal is to continue and grow. “With the strong comeback of made in France and upcycling, which is really starting to appeal, the idea today is to move into a larger location and be able to accommodate the companies we work with as well as individuals so that they experiment with upcycling”. For this, Hélène de La Moureyre is counting on the Europe 1 Trophies for the Future to “bring her visibility, new partnerships and notoriety”.
