(ANSA) – Turin, Jun 20 – Iveco Bus will return to produce buses in Italy. The sites involved in the project are those of Turin and Foggia, now specialized in the production of industrial internal combustion engines. Iveco Group has submitted a request for access to the Mise Development Contracts within the scope of the Pnrr opportunities. The vehicles will be based on latest generation technologies, including those relating to battery and hydrogen electric propulsion. The project will contribute to the energy and ecological transition process of public transport in Italy and will have positive impacts on the development of the supply chain. The company plans to form current employees and to make new hires.

The project could be operational as early as 2022, with the ambition to produce the first buses in the spring of 2023.

“Turin confirms its industrial vocation and of being a protagonist in new innovative production processes oriented towards the energy transition. Institutions must support this process by creating the best conditions to attract investments” comments Mayor Stefano Lo Russo.
