How Ukrainians in Europe save on calls: what operators offer

Many citizens who left Ukraine because of the war still remain abroad. Almost all people are concerned about how to call their relatives who remained in Ukraine despite the hostilities.

“Today” figured out what Ukrainian mobile operators offer, and what conditions mobile operators abroad have.

Vodafone

Among the “buns” Vodafone, for customers in Poland, as they say in the company:

  • the first free connection for all customers in Poland to the “Affordable roaming” service, which has 10 GB of mobile Internet, 50 minutes for all calls to Ukraine and numbers in the host country, 100 SMS to any country.

Kyivstar

For its customers in Poland, the Ukrainian mobile operator offers the following:

In addition, in Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary, Moldova, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, France, Bulgaria, Spain, Estonia, Latvia, Austria, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, some tariffs have special communication conditions without any additional charges.

For subscription plans: you can use all gigabytes, minutes and SMS of your tariff abroad. You will also have unlimited incoming calls.

For contract rates: For such clients, the operator monthly accrues 15 GB, 500 minutes to Ukrainian numbers and in the country of residence, 50 SMS and unlimited for incoming calls. Unlim is also provided in instant messengers and some applications.

For these conditions to work, you need to pay the tariff for 4 weeks on time.

Lifecell

Since February 24, Lifecell users have automatically received 1 GB and 10 minutes for calls to Ukraine and communication in the host country for 30 days and 5 GB of internet. This is available in a large list of countries, which we wrote about in this material.

Now the following tariff plan is available for Ukrainians in Poland:

At the same time, the operator notes that service packages are provided separately for calls, SMS messages and mobile Internet. The fee for each service package is charged automatically on the day of use – in the first second of the first call of the day, sending the first SMS, or from the moment the first byte is used during the session of transmitting and receiving data.

What mobile phones offer in Poland and other countries

Poland. One of the most popular mobile operators in Poland, Orange offers free connection.

You can get a SIM card from this operator as follows:

  • Orange card can be bought and registered in more than 30 thousand points in Poland (for example, in Orange service centers, shops, kiosks or post office);
  • to register a SIM card, you must have an original passport or other document confirming your identity;
  • a special service for Ukrainians will automatically connect after activating the SIM card.

Service for a month, which every citizen of Ukraine will receive after activating the SIM card:

  • 100 minutes for calls to Ukraine;
  • free calls, SMS and MMS messages in Poland;
  • 30 GB internet.

In addition, there is a special package for calls to Ukraine for 10 PLN (68 UAH) per month. It offers 60 min. calls from Poland to mobile and landline phones. This document contains detailed instructions on how to connect the package.

Another Polish operator Plus offers a free starter package.

It can be activated in a mobile communication salon or in partner networks, having a Ukrainian passport or any identity document with you. You can connect additional packages, but already paid. Details about them are on the operator’s website.

In Hungary operator Magyar Telekom has a special free SIM card for Ukrainians. The package contains 500 MB of mobile Internet and 40 minutes of calls within the EU. In addition, you can make an unlimited number of calls and send SMS from Hungary to Ukrainian numbers. You can use the mobile Internet until the amount of data is exhausted.

Also in the country there are free WIFI points and customer service in Ukrainian. The official website has all the necessary information.

Czech operatorT-mobile has a universal card, with which the client has 50 minutes of calls and 50 SMS to all Czech mobile operators for a whole month from the moment the card is activated. You can call Ukrainian numbers from this card absolutely free of charge.
